FAQ's
Myth #1....Why didn't I get called? I thought I was better than most other players.
In most cases, coaches, player personnel directors, and recruiting coordinators don't even know you exist! Only a handful of players regionally ever get looked at. Prospect camps only look at the recommended athletes in attendance. Athletes mature at different stages of their careers and often get over looked.
Myth #2...If I'm good enough, the programs will find me.
A very small number of recruited athletes are just found by the coaches or recruiting coordinators. The vast majority have to take the initiative to contact the coaches and programs. At any level, coaches have no way of finding you. Only the top two or three players regionally ever get invited. Don't just concentrate on the top tier colleges as many of them have already locked on to the "superstar". There is nothing wrong with the smaller schools, and at the end of the day your education is the top priority.
Myth #3...My high school coach can get me an athletic scholarship.
In fact most coaches neither have the time or resources to pursue this option.
Myth #4...Coaches or recruiting coordinators resent being contacted by athletes.
In fact coaches and coordinators hope to hear from good athletes who are interested in their program. Some blue chip athletes come to their attention naturally through coach contacts, but there are not enough of these for a program to fill out each roster. Our data bank can be seen by every educational institution with an athletic program.
Myth#5...I can wait until my senior year to get a scholarship.
The recruiting process takes time, so you will need to start early. It's better to start by your junior year or sooner.
Myth#6...I have to be the best athlete on my team to get a scholarship or a try out.
For every athlete there is a college or university who wants you to be an athlete in their program.
